Church of the Holy Virgin – Annunciation (“The Fish Church”), Asenovgrad

The icon is executed in traditional stained glass combined with fused glass and recreates the miraculous icon of the Holy Virgin Eleusa preserved in the church. It is installed in the church’s holy spring, known locally as “The Fish Church” because of the fish living in its sacred waters. The glass image forms a natural part of the spiritual and historical setting, while the murals in the holy spring were painted by Zahari Zograf.
