Don Quixote
In Don Quixote, Ivan Lambrov interprets one of the most iconic figures in European literature – the idealist who remains true to his convictions and sees the world not only as it is, but also as it could be.
The artist explores the complex nature of Cervantes’ character, in whom reality and imagination continually intertwine. The sculptural figure conveys both inner resilience and vulnerability, transforming Don Quixote into a reflection on the human need to remain faithful to one’s ideals.
The transparency of the kiln-cast glass plays an active role in the work’s expression. The violet tones acquire different depths according to the light and viewing angle, while light passing through the material continuously alters the perception of the form. In this way, the physical presence of the sculpture is combined with a sense of immateriality – a space between the visible and the imagined.
